Fireflies in Winter: Play, Read, Act
Join us in this joyful drama workshop for kids ages 4–7 and their grown-ups! Together, we’ll explore movement, rhythm, and pretend play as we bring this early-reader script to life. Along the way, we’ll highlight simple literacy-building moments, like rhyming words, short sentences, and playful repetition, to support emerging readers. Caregivers and teachers will learn easy, creative ways to use the script and classroom guide at home or in the classroom, while young actors shine in speaking and non-speaking roles. TYA Lab: Mentorship Training
This workshop series supports middle and high school students in building the skills and confidence to create and perform Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA), while also offering meaningful professional development for teachers. Through performance exploration responsive to participant and program goals, participants consider the developmental needs of preschool and/or elementary audiences while creating theatre with and for young people. The sessions emphasize ensemble-building and imaginative play, fostering a brave, collaborative environment where ideas and confidence can thrive. By pairing TYA-specific performance principles with devising and creativity-building techniques, the workshops empower participants to make joyful, engaging work for younger audiences. Programs can be tailored to meet your specific needs, supporting both student learning and teacher practice at any stage of the process.
Move It, Write It: Finding Your Voice in Motion
This flexible, ELA-connected playwriting workshop can be structured and adapted for upper elementary through high school students, inviting them to rethink traditional writing by grounding storytelling in theatre techniques such as physical play, ensemble-based devising, and movement exploration. Through collaborative creation games and imaginative writing prompts, participants discover how action, image, and character can generate text – helping unlock ideas, strengthen voice, and overcome creative blocks. Emphasizing embodied exploration, the workshop supports students in finding their unique storytelling perspectives as language emerges from experience rather than starting on the page, encouraging confident collaboration and original storytelling.
